Hi all.
My partner has a 52-reg Stilo 1.6.
There has been a problem with the engine for about 4 months now - engine fault light on permanently (on amber) and needs to be revved to keep the car running. First time she was recovered by the AA, AA man reckoned it was the sensor in the exhaust manifold finding NG mixture or similar and that's where the revving to keep her running has come from.
It's been to the garage four times so far, every time it's fine for about 24hrs then it's back to rubbish running - Garage are replacing items in accordance with Fiat's suggestions, but nothing is working. :bang:
Is there something that can be replaced (even engine management unit or similar?) - am trying to determine what they've changed but all under warranty (even though 2 yr warranty has run out - problems started in warranty period) - but garage appear to be NG (and is the second garage we've gone to, local dealer did very poor service and we had to go elsewhere.) Believe that the sensor for exhaust gases has been changed...
Will try to do myself/go to non-franchise dealer perhaps as dealership is NG. Not decided yet. Any suggestions? (sorry, I know there's not much information here). Keeping the revs up is affecting her driving style, which is not a good thing.
Thanks,
Paul Mc

Not another Throttle Body fault perhaps? I had that go on my 02 1.6, similar symptoms to yours. They replaced that and the throttle pedal itself, and touch wood, no probs since.

I had throttle body problems on my 52 1.6, the symptoms sound similar to the ones your having, only mine had the engine fault warning and then dropped back to idling speed, and the only way you could do anything was to restart the car.
I took mine to my dealer and they changed the throttle body, and as luck would have it shes been fine since.
