Hi all

new to this site and Fiat!

Just got a 1.8 16v Stilo Dynamique.

Its fully loaded as you will all know...my question is that when you rev the car stationary when the revs settle back down the car feels like its going to stall.
It doesnt judder or anything like that and it doesnt actually cut out.
I was wondering if this is a normal trait of the car or do we have a problem.
The cars done 40k and is an 02 52 plate.

TIA

Nick

Re: Stilo 1.8 question

approximately what rpm does it drop to?

does the rpm drop and settle or drop and then fluctuate before it settles?

Hi

it drops well below 500rpm then settles back up to normal tickover rpm.
I wouldnt say it fluctuates.

Re: Stilo 1.8 question

clean inside the throttle body with wd40 on a cloth, especially the butterfly valve and where it meets the inside of the throttle body. also give the idle speed stepper motor a squirt of wd40. leave the battery disconnected while you do this to reset the ecu. once it is reassembled start the engie and let it idle for 5 mins before going for a drive.

Re: Stilo 1.8 question

Thanks for the quick reply,Ill give that a go...not knowing a lot about motors is this likely to be a big problem?

Also while Im here how quiet are these motors on tickover as mine doesnt sound rough but doesnt sound great either!

Cheers again!
