Hi guys, I have problem with the Fiat Stilo 1.6 16V.
On dashboard after starting engine, engine light is on and next to the clock
light is blinking a beep is heard and wrote Engine Fault.
Diagnostics - Fiat Ecu Ccan doesn't show faults - no errors.
Car has a new battery and sparking plug... car has power, runs well..

Do you have experience with this?
Thx Mates

does your dasboard beep continuously and your engine light blink continously?
That might mean your ecu has to relearn the phonic wheel , try this:

run your engine untill it's warmed up properly
rev your engine up to 5500-6000 rpm and let it drop to idle and stabilize
repeat 2 more times (so total 3x 5500/6000 rpm + idle)
When beeping and blinking stops after third time - swich off ignition and wait 1 minute (if not repeat procedure)
check if problem is solved by starting your car again.

good luck,
yellowstilo

yellowstilo, yes, dasboard beep continuously and your engine light blink continously..

but.. thanks for the idea, it worked! :))
I've change all the sensors, cleaned the - stepper motor (motor idling), cleaned the contacts and unchanged.

This procedure helped me, there was nothing blinking and not beeping!
Thank you very much!

Hi iam new here i have got a similar problem did the above and it worked:) but fiatecuscan say that phonic wheel learning status is "in progress":bang: This car drives like a dream when it wants to but since the last mot its been a nightmare.

hi i passed my driving test and got insured the nxt day on my 18th, and i got a fiat stilo 1.2 2002 16v 6 speed, and i have got this problem, however my car sounds a little but funny and doesnt drive with the normaly power it had.... should i try this anyway? or take it to a garage?

Can you be more specific with the noise? I had an engine fault and the car made an awful noise and had no power. Just an idea, have you checked your cambelt? Mine became loose and that was causing the noise. But i had underlying problems.

it sounds a bit like a tractor and a tiny bit of misfire, i have power but it was not the same, id have to actually put my foot down to get anywhere

Just make sure the cambelt is properly taught and not slack. It's probably worth checking just to rule it out.

okay, ive taken it to a a garage and i should get information on it today, ill post what it was for anyone else that might have the problem.

Hi guys, interesting that my fiatecuscan says the same that phonic wheel learning status is "in progress". I don't have any faults, no engine fault light, I did earlier the phonic wheel learning procedure after the intake manifold has been cleaned. It beeped and blinked until revved appropriately, turned off then on again and DONE :) one happy Stilo owner.
But why is FES still saying Phonic Wheel learning status in progress ??? Anyone any clues perhaps :) thanks.
