Apr 15, 2004 #2 i had the problem of engaging the 3rd gear on the 1.9td 97, had it taken out by the mechanic..the gears n the gear engagement ring is worn out n damaged. had it changed n now it is beautiful. suggest u do the same. rgds tan tan
