stiff gear change

stiff gear change

Thats about normal, if they were noisy when warm it would be a different matter.

Tappets are always noisy first thing as there is not enough oil pressure when the engine first starts.

ok,well still gunna change the oil maybe after chrimbo and maybe try engine flush,do fiat sell selenia then??how much??

will let u know how i get on with gear box oil,may try it tommorow

Fiat sell selenia, no idea the price.

don't forget the oil filter when you change the engine oil.

change your engine oil more than the recommended service intervals. Its £25 well spent, regardless of the engine, but especially the 1.4 I used to do mine every 10K..

i have the 1.4 12v and it is a 1998 and it has done 53,000 !!! lol

i was getting the tappet noise a while ago about 2months now, it was getting really bad so i had the oil changed (i do it every 5k i only do short journeys u see) and it is a lot better.

as for the gear level problem i have that as we speak 1st and 2nd are stiffer then they were and reverse is sometimes stiff or occationally i have to take my foot off the clutch and press it again, i just put this down to the cold weather to be honest, i had the same problem last year that went away in march/april time.

i never considered the gearbox oil though, hmn i might change mine !

Reverse can be like that as its direct engagement with no syncromesh. (not that any reverse gears have synchro ;))
