General Steering rack

What are the symptoms of the steering rack problem? My car has a lot of road noise and I am wondering if this is the problem.

Are Fiat doing a recall? I was thinking of phoning their customer service department to find out.

I think it is in the line to do a recall but I think there figuring out a cheaper way to fix it properly, it also only affected cars in a certain production date range similar to the knee plate problem.

In not all to sure people have said different things. But as far as I know:

1. Unaccurate Steering response
2. Excessive road noise which comes from front of the car amplified more while going slowish over bumps.

Theres more but cant remember them and you don't need all of them for it to be a faulty steering rack.

The steering rack problem causes a knock from the passenger side front of the car over bumps in the road.
