hi does anyone have a guide to remove the steering rack on my 96 ulysse as its clunking when turn steering from side to side thanks
 
i thought that but sounds like coming from the rack but ive just been out and got rack pump all pipe work and reservor for 35 all in so ill be doinmg that soon as
 
Hi Dondoleo,
The steering rack is relatively easy to replace, pinion loose, four bolts and the two steering joints, ofcourse you have to drain the power steering oil first. Only thing is, ýou'll need a replacement (refurbished) one, which is pricy and you have no choice really. After that you have to align the geometry again.
But I wonder, clunking can be many things as already pointed out. You also have a torsion bar held by rubber bushes which could be worn, at the end of the bar you also have short reaction dampers which hold on to the wishbones. These are also fitted with rubber and can rattle over time.
 
funny thing is i went out today and low and behold no clunking what so ever one miniute it comes from both sides and then the passanger side then nowt,

all the bushes seem okay it sounds like a broken spring rattleing round,all though the springs are okay.
only hear it over speed humps or around bends.
