Help
My wife has a "W' reg Fiat Punto 1.1 47000 on the clock. Whilst driving the other day, she heard noises coming from the engine area when she turned left or right.
I got in and had a drive.I found that when I turned the car to the right it there was a clunking sound that gave me cause for concern and also when when turned to the left it also clunked but not so loudly. The noise also died down once the clutch was depressed and also when the car had been running for a while.
I have asked a colleague who said it might CV joints.
I had a look at both of those areas.I found that I could move the bar coming out of the area of CV joint of the nearside wheel back and forth about 1/4 at least. The offside not so much but still there was movement.
Please can anyone give me the best course of action and also the cheapest way of getting repaired i.e buying the parts and getting the garage to fit them?
