When taking a motorway corner a few days ago it occurred to me that I was using the throttle to steer the car as much as I was using the steering. Is this the fabled steering on the throttle so often mentioned in cars magazines or is their some extra dimension i'm missing?

steering on the throttle is rather more applicable to big power rear drive cars where more power means more rear end slip. Basically meaning once the car was set up into a corner a heroic 70s super saloon driver could use the super sensitive hairs on his chest and sideburns to judge how much throttle would get him around the corner with an appropriate ammount of sideways and no steering input at all:cool: Also applies to drifters but they're not as interesting.
Applies to Pandas and other front drive cars to some extent but only in that more throttle means more understeer so not as cool either. Also in a Panda (or Y10) the throttle pedal acts more as a volume control than anything significant enough to affect steering in anything other than very low speed corners.

Mine steers with the throttle as well

Although I'm stuffing more air and fuel in :slayer: To add Torque steer is another one which is a side effect of front wheel drive cars that apply too much power through the steering wheels.

Have you got too much torque now then Kris???

Si

Hmmm :chin:so in order to achieve the fabled steering by throttle id potentially need need 'sensitive' chest hair, RWD, knackered ball joints and a Turbo. Hmmm i can only contribute the chest hair which I fear may not be enough :(

Il not have you teasing about my lack of Turbo Si :D. Il get round to it I promise
