Technical steering lock coming on

hi about a week ago my steering lock came on whilst driving and turning a corner which nearly put me into a bus stop. i just thought i must of hit some ice and it had caused the steering wheel or column to move strangely which caused the lock to engage however it happened again yesterday in dry ice-free conditions. please if any one knows waht could it be???:bang:

I can't see it being the steering lock (if it is, get it relaced immediately). I wonder if it's a very badly worn CV joint locking up the steering?

In any case, drive very slowly to a garage and don't otherwise drive the car until fixed.

your electric steering is failing- nothing to do with the steering lock.

its a common problem, you loose the power assisted steering and a picture of a red steering wheel icon will come on on the dash.

only ever seen one cheap fix, could possibiley do it for 280 possibly

i missed a bit

check how much juice is in the battery
volts wise 13.4 is a nice number and charge when running 14.2 is what mine are at

could it be the amount of power im using on the battery ie sub and amp that may cause it
