General Starting trouble

My new Stilo 1.8 dynamic, when starting from cold will need the accelerator pressed down slightly to rev otherwise it splutters then cuts out. Nothing too serious I hope, service light comes on although it was only done 1,000 miles ago. Any thoughts guys? Seller said the battery had gone dead (from light being left on) and needs replacing which will sort the issue.

Stilos don't like weak batteries, so he may be right. Also might be your inlet control valve is dirty. There's a cleaning guide here:
