Hello, any tips or tricks to starting up an engine that hasn’t been turned over in a while courtesy of lockdown and the weather etc? Trickle charged & battery is showing 13, turns over but won’t catch and now I’m confusing myself with how much choke and accelerator action I need! Any tips would be appreciated.

If it helps, here’s the procedure from my owners manual

On a number of occasions when I have left mu car unused for a period of time, the fuel siphons itself back to the tank. My way of rectifying this is to use an old electric tyre pump that my son 'gave' to me (basically, as it will only pump up to about 35psi, he wanted it out of his garage, but didn't have the heart to chuck it) and pressurise the fuel tank, to push fuel down into the pump. Put the nozzleof the pump into the filler neck of the tank, seal it by holding some rag round it (the hose) and then turn on the pump. It won't have to be run for long, maybe only about 20-25 seconds, then try cranking the engine into life-'Choke' on, no throttle and crank. Do not 'pump' the throttle--the carb does not have an accelerator pump so you will achieve nowt.
