Hello all,

the standard radio in my 1996 Punto has been reset (replaced battery) and is only coming up with 'code' on the display. Does anyone here know the code or any code to bypass this?

Thank you for your help!

The code will be specific to the unit, surely?!

Have you tried looking in the handbook? Failing that, do you know who the original supplying dealer was?

Ive browsed through the handbook, but can't find anything, the dealer doesnt know it either. Wasn't sure whether there would be one that dealers use to unlock them? I experienced the same problem on our Passat, the Volkswagon dealer put in a standard code and unlocked it.

The only way you can find it out is through the original dealers files.
this is not the only way.many people have instruments for reading the code from your radio(from chip).contact some folks who repair electric devices and ask for help.im sure that this will work.i did that many times. :D

This happened to my radio too. I ended up buying a different radio as it drove me crazy. When I spoke to Fiat they said they only keep the codes on record for 2 years then they are destroyed. If I had wanted I could have had it re-programmed but it was cheaper to get a whole new thing.

Thank you for all your help! Thinking about it, there isnt any point in trying to trace the code, easier and less hassle to fit a cd player! And anyway, who uses tapes nowadays?! :D

Have a great new year!
