is it realy high pitched? i have same thing and it sounds like the brakes. wont be worn (depending how you use them) just the back of the brake pad will cause squeel. mine did it as i didnt apply enough copper grease on the back. does it do it when you brake at any time?

No its definately not when i brake

the first time it happened it was when it was on full lock to the right, now it does it however much of a turn i put on, but only to the right

Its an intermittent problem though

any vibration?

maby nearside driveshaft or wheel bearing. does it do it on acceloration? maby shock absober. could be anything realy

No theres no vibration at all and its a high pitched squealing

Thanks for your suggestions
Ill post again if i manage to find out what it is

Thanks

i think i get the same noise from my Seicento and is the same as you discribed, me and my friends have put it down to the CV boot wearing out ?
hmmmm that sounds a bit fishy now to me as i was getting the squeeling from both sides.if i turn left, left squeel. if i turn right, right squeel. but since i had my gearbox changed the garage also changed the left cv boot as they said it was warn or leaking or sommething and i havent noticed squeel on the left. il have to get back to you on that one when iv actualy listend out for it.

Im doing my usual with these things which is ignoring them until it breaks .... used to ride a classic vespa soo know the technique well and i dont know about the left one as i only ever notice it when im doing a U-Turn and i always go right.

Ive had another proper listen today (window down, radio off)
Its sounds like a hollow squealing noise
That is without braking, just turning

Started my car up after work this afternoon
Steering light came on and the steering is heavy

I can see this being a big expensive problem!

your power steering has given up. mite come on now and again like mine does. common problem. id very expensive to replace as why i havent had mine done. talking £700 for fiat to do it. can get a second hand one off ebay for about £150 but bout £100 id imagine to get it instaled and you have to have the right ecu number etc. pain in the arse to get sorted.

Exact same problem here. I was told by the garage when I had my mot that it was to do with the power steering and it would be very expensive.

Got the power steering fixed

A refurbed power steering motor/ecu cost £260
Programming cost £30
Labour cost £70

Reasonable really considering Fiat want £600+

Annoying thing is the squealing noise is still there when i turn right, its coming from the left hand side under the bonnet

I tried touching the brakes when it was doing it an the noise continued
Any suggestions?

Quick reply

Ive fixed the Squealing, it was the back plate on the front passanger side brake disk. It was touching on the brake disk so i just bent it back a little.

I found this on another thread on FIAT Forums

So thanks to the fiat forum users (y)

I suspect my sei. noise might come from same location. What was the thread you visited?
