Technical spark plug spanner

Technical spark plug spanner

Is it possible anyone can recommend a spark plug spanner that will fit my plugs?
The front plug (nearest back seat) is almost impossible to tighten up as my car has an abarth Rocker cover & Air fan cover (see pic) 8E100FEC-569B-47BB-A4B6-942E034C0103.jpeg

At the moment I have the carb off & the Air box cover but still finding it difficult to fit a plug spanner into the space. I even had thoughts of cutting a round access hole with a removable plate behind the rear drop down seat this would give easy access to the front of the engine.
I am not a purist although the car is in great condition I am just looking for a practical solution for a knuckle bleeding situation.

Looking at your pictures (were they supposed to be the same?) I can see your problem---bit of a bummer, to put it mildly! The only sensible suggestion that I can think of at the moment is to use a 'plug' socket out of a 3/8 drive socket set, the sort with a rubber insert, and an extension, long enough that you can out a ratchet on the end of the extension that is clear of the carb. I would have thought that with the carb off, access wouldn't be too bad. When you put a plug back in with a 'rubberised' plug socket, be careful how far you push the plug into the socket--if you push the plug fully into the socket, you might have a problem getting the socket back OFF the plug. The trick might be to START the plug with a 'rubberised' socket, with the plug only just gripped by the rubber, and when you have the plug 'started', finish tightening up the plug with an 'un-rubbered' socket. Even cutting hole in the rear, behind the seat, might not achieve a great deal--but it might weaken the bulkhead.

Hi Barry, I have much the same problem as yourself, but as I am using a Solex twin choke, and it is smaller than the weber, I don't have too much of a problem.
I use a standard 1/2 " square drive plug socket with a rubber grip as Tom says, plus a knuckle adaptor that can give you the angle to insert the plug, add on to that either a 6" or 12" extension from a socket set and you are away. Your problem may be further solved by removing any linkage and or the carb itself prior to fitting the plugs. It's
rather a difficult problem caused by the carb and manifold selection and may be the only way to extract and insert plugs.
Ian.
