Hi everyone, I'm having difficulty sourcing a new handbrake cable for my L-reg Cinq. There seem to be two types fitted- the early one, which has a threaded section and locknut, and the later style which does away with that altogether. The later ones are really easy to find, but not the early type which my car uses. I ordered the only one I could find on ebay, but the seller cancelled the transaction when I gave my reg number, saying it was not compatible, despite the photo on the listing showing the threaded adjuster section. Any suggestions for suppliers gratefully received!

Evening. Have a look on Ricambio International based in Surrey/London.

They list them in stock for 92-97 models. Very helpful of you call them too. Quick delivery. I’ve used them a few times including for a pair of sills for my Panda, delivered to Hastings.

Good luck

Many thanks John, that's a good lead. It looks like they are out of stock, but I'll give Ricambio a ring anyway.

Wow, this is proving far more difficult than I would ever have guessed. I rang Ricambio, who were very helpful, but said there was little demand for Cinquecento parts and they would have to ask their supplier in Poland if and when these might be available, so I'm not really much further forward. Out of interest, how do you tension the later type of handbrake cable which has no threaded section & locknut? I wonder if the body-mounted cable bracket on an early Cinq (as in pic) can be modified to take the newer style cable?

It may be worth contacting https://ebay.us/m/Svu9gK Masteda parts on eBay.
I’ve also ordered parts from him which I couldn’t get in the UK for my Panda, whilst undertaking Manda’s rustoration, which were model specific to my Selecta. (CV joints and shock absorbers). Quick delivery and great communication. If you contact them with Reg, VIN or part number they’ll be able to check availability.

A quick search shows quite a few different types of cable for the Cinquecento. May be an option for you ….
