hi I'm from south africa where the stilo has just been launched this week. I went to test drive one and was very impressed, but have a few questions that the salesperson couldn't answer as she hasn't been on training for the car yet.

The radio stayed on even after i turned the car off. It was just the standard fiat radio as SatNav isn't offered as an option in this country. Can they program the radio to turn off with the car?

What does the city button on the dashboard do?

What exactly does "my car" let you personalise and set?

Does the car have any flaws i should know about (they selling them only in 3dr 1.6 activ here) as i would probably buy my car before the local motoring magazines have had a chance to test them.

Thanks alot and i look forward to joining you guys as a stilo owner on the forum soon!:D

The radio is programmed to your requirements throught the EXP button - you can have it go off with the ca rif you want.

The city button - and she should have known this as its on other fiats - its a power steering function, makes turning the wheel ultra light for parking. The button should have a pic of a steering wheel on it. Its mainly for women and milp wristed men :)

The radio turns off automatically, mine turns off after 20mins. When I turn the ignition off it says 20minute mode on the radio display(I think this timing can be personalized). City button changes the level power steering assistance. Visit the Stilo microsite for more info.http://www.fiat.co.uk/

Welcome Diesel20

Go ahead and buy the Stilo! The guys above have answered your questions. But this car is now two years into its production life so most of its teething problems have been sorted. I have a 2003 model and its come out of the factory fine, in fact I'll go as far as saying it's a superb car.

My only advice would be, buy a 1.9 Diesel or the 2.4 Petrol version if you can afford it as it's a heavy car that needs a powerful motor to match its aggressive looks. My 1.6 struggles to move this car along at any pace, that's not because it's a weak engine but fully loaded these cars weigh in at around 1250kg. Other than that I can't fault mine, it's comfortable, practical, and a good looking motor! People always turn to admire it.

Any questions or issues you have, chances are you'll find the answers here, they're a humourous and helpful lot in here, so welcome once again and enjoy!

Cheers
Savi.:D

Welcome to the forum,
Like all cars it has problems.
Love mine though.:)
5 door is a better option.
Or the Multi wagon. although not so stylish
as the 3 and 5 door or Abarth ones so others say.
Personl choice though and depends what you want.
As I say like the style of my MW though. Skywindow
and Aircon wiil be a boon to you.
No problem with power on my 1.9JTD and lots of hills where I live,

Hi guys thanks for all the advice I appreciate it!
I’ve been checking out the British fiat site and It seems like you guys have a lot more models and options than us. At the moment we only getting the 1.6 and 1.9JTD in 3dr and station wagon form with the active only available for the 1.6 and the dynamic only available 1.9JTD . As I’m still young I think I’ll go for the 3 dr!

I would like a 1.9JTD but there is a difference of about 3500pounds between the two
So I’ll probably wind up with the 1.6
Aircon comes standard on all models in this country and I think it should seeing as a 1.6 3dr active works out to be about 15000pounds here!!B)

They also importing them as one big pre-spec’d shipment every few months so I don’t think I have the option of the sky window[:(!] and my biggest decision will be choosing between yellow and black.:D
