General Some info about Seicento sporting

Hi ppl ...

have been driving the last 4 yrs a fiat 126 Bis ..... little car, funky drive, quick parking and very economical (15 km / l unleaded fuel and still running @ 120Km/h hehe) ..... now its time to change for a better model ..


the seicento caught my eye immediately ... saw a 1999 sportage model yellow in a showroom with the abarth side skirts and alloy wheels, stainless exhaust, some covers on the front headlamps (like elaborus seicento if someone saw it) ... looks fantastic. got some questions to ask before i commit myself


1) if the body galvanized? .... since we live on a small island surrounded by sea .. its more prone to rust.

2) What type of engine fueling system uses? Fuel injection or carborator?

3) Any points i have to check to make sure nothing was modified / patched to repair to make the car look as it was originally?

4) The car has 44,000 Km on its spedo ... and he is asking for 6670Euros (car yr october 1999) .... might be a bit expensive (i thought) ... although the 5 times i went round the car the paintwork was perfect .... no rust no bumps.

5) About consumption .... running around in the city... what is the km / l ? Fiat has always been renouned for their fast agile but high consumtion...

Welcome to the forum

1) Yep all galvanised, learnt from their mistakes
2) Fuel injection
3) Just check things like boot floor not creased, as if hit from behind its the boot floor that tends to suffer, rest of it is just a case of make sure nothing looks out of the ordinary or unusual
4) Not sure where you are so not sure how popular they are and how well they hold value, i'd say it was above average price but they do lose value quickly in the uk, but i do admit i'd rather spend more to get a better car, you get what you pay for
5) Again not sure about this figure unfortunately, was getting about 45miles per gallon on city driving in my seicento i think i worked it out at.. not 100% as not driven it in a while now sorry cant help you any further

Sure it'll be as fun as (if not more so) than your 126

the boot floor is perfect .... no crunches ... that was one thing that i checked. Checked also front mudguards, near engine chassis .. all ok

as location ... malta is a small island with a lot of stop and go side, side streets ,people crossing, sleeping policemen, disastrous situation of the roads and traffic .... this makes a pressure on the suspensions and alloy wheels. in fact one of the rimms is a bit damaged but he will repair and balance it for me ....

about sprayed interiors ... like the coloured revcounter cover and dashboard .... from where can i order? fastfiat does not have any of those seems.

Sounds like a good one there

with the sprayed interior, i dont think you can buy them already done from anywhere, most people either spray the originals, or get a spare from a scrapyard and spray that and then swap them

in my family there has been my 126 bis, previously dad had the 850 and now i want to continue with the saga for the 600. I had a crush on the punto mk2 3 door ... but with the price of the fuel always getting high and the size of the car to go around everyday work ... its a bit big.


btw ... have you ever heard someone fitting a/c on the sei? what is the cost average?

believe it was an optional extra, maybe worth looking out for another sei with it already fitted, although not too sure how few and far between they are in malta, not sure how much it would cost to get a system put in, the windows are plenty enough for me but i am in uk so the one day of the year it gets hot i can put up with it

was tempted by a punto when i got my seicento but couldnt go away from the small fun gokart appeal of the cento's

yep thats true ... the gokart effect is unique ...

although small japanese cars might be more economical .... they are nothing compared to the fiats in their looks

There was a special edition seicento called the seicento suite (i think) which came with a/c as standard equipment! it was the only seicento that came with a/c throughout its production and only ran for a limited period of time.

As regards fitting a/c i see this as no problem if the vehicle does not come with a/c, obviously you would have to search on your island for a company that will be able to supply and fit and a/c unit!
