General So what made you pick a Stilo?

I fell in love with my stilo whilst eyeing up another car in a used car forecourt, the stolo was a striking italian made example with strong lines and a sporty figure, the other was a beer guzzling sausage eating german in disguise (leon).

I decided on the fiat for a few reasons, the looks the fact that it made me look like a bachelor again after driving a 2.0TD xantia for two years! and the price being well within my budget and the fact that it looked part alfa part audi and a very unique colour!

Needless to say im still smilling!

I probably told my story, went the Alfa dealer to look for a GT, when they didn't have one I walked away and had to walk past the Schui, thought it looked good, took a test drive and bought it. Didn't even know what a Stilo was when I seen it.

Not as quick or exciting to drive as my V6 Alfa 156 but it is a ncie car to drive. Found something interesting the other day, when I have my wipers on and put the car in reverse, the rear wiper comes on, cool.

I thought it was time to replace my Punto JTD. After 5 years and 210kkm i was ready for a change.

As i'm an italian car fanatic, i knew it had to be either a Fiat, Alfa Romeo or Lancia. The choice was quickly narrowed down to Fiat, because Lancia isn't imported to Denmark due to a very high price and low sale numbers. The Alfa Romeo was too expensive for me (the 147 Multijet was a full 25% more expensive than the Stilo Multijet).

So i ended up looking at the Stilo. I had to choose an engine and it was either a 1,8/2,4 petrol og 1,9 diesel, but because i drive about 140km each day, i settled on the 1,9 diesel (though i would have LOVED to have bought a 2,4 Abarth).
Here i could choose between either a 100hp 1,9JTD Ciao or a 140hp 1,9MJTD Dynamic. The 115hp 1,9JTD had been removed because it's price was too close to the MJTD.

After the dealer made me an offer on both cars, i bought the Multijet.

I did however look at other makes and models, but every other competitor was simply too expensive compared with the Stilo (most was between 10-20% more expensive, incl. Ford Focus, Opel Astra VW Golf etc.)

I later discovered that i was lucky, to have bought it last year, as it has been pulled from the danish market to a new price tag which was too high.

I went for the striking looks & good value and owing to the fact I have a large ***** I didn't need to compensate. :)

:D

I went for mine as we had a Brava, and received excellent service when the cam tensioner went, so stuck with FIAT. Liked the 5 door's driving position, space, equipment and got it for a good price.

Mine? Well, just look at it (the car I mean :p)

the only choice for me was a stilo after i wrote off my Bravo. i loved my old car but felt i wanted a change. The Stilo just looks mean i hate all these curvey bubbly friendly looking cars. i want a car to say "GRRRR get out of my way" at the moment its more like "gr excuse me now" but that will change soon with the introduction of some mods.

Two reasons for me.

Firstly I was quite taken by the advert that launched the Stilo.

Secondly I bought my daughter a Cinq about four years ago (and naturally got to drive it) and figured if Fiat made cars this fun to drive (compared to my Rover) then I was defno making a Fiat my next car.

My choice was really between a Punto and a Stilo but the Stilo came up first.

Good decision (y)

My first brand new car was Myndy (NL02 MYN), a broom yellow Sei Sporting. I loved it and it's easily the most entertaining car I've driven in it's own way (and I own and X1/9). Anyway, I took it in for an oil change at 6000 miles due to the way I'd abused it and it was just as Fiat slashed the price of the Stilo. I found myself walking out, the owner of a brand new 3dr Stilo 1.2 in Orion Grey. Anyway, a year and a bit and 24000 miles later, I decided I needed a JTD and I bought a 3 mth old Dynamic MW again in Orion Grey. I've got to say, I absolutely love it.

My car was vandalised and I had to take it to a Ford garage for repair work. They told me they were giving me a Focus Estate and given the Uk media's love affair with Fords I was dreading driving the Focus incase it made me want one. I drove it literally 10 meters and realised how old fashioned and cheap it was. I felt like I was stepping several classes up the ladder when they gave me my key back.

I just wish the Fiat dealers knew what they were talking about (no disrespect if any read on this forum) as my car has had recurring problems and they are just totaly dissinterested and make you feel like your an inconveience. This needs to be addressed as I'm seriously considering a Honda as my next car (and a neighbour who bought a 5dr as a result of loving mine so much is considring a Volvo due to repeated problems with coil springs) and I've been a loyal Fiat fan all my life. Does anyone else feel this way?

J.

Had an Alfa GT but kinda ran out of money.... so Stilo was my only option.....
hmph:cry:

Had it 6 weeks and Im fed up with people asking me whay I have got it, and if I have fallen on hard times......

:bang:

Popped into the local garage for a set of bulbs for my 206 and inside the showroom just polished up with black tinted windows and 17" alloys was a black (deep purple in the sunshine) 1.6 3 door dynamic. Couple of hours later I was driving off in it! Never looked back since, absolutely fantastic car:D

I have always liked the stilo ever since the very first advert I saw on TV then I was browsing in the car super market here in Cardiff one day thinking of changing my GTI for something with a bit more comfort and I came across three there I went fo the 5dr as you are all aware I'm very pleased with the car and after a few mods even more so :slayer: YES they have their moments of bloody mindedness just like a human but we must remember not only do we love our cars but these cars be it punto Sei or stilo have brought a unique group of people together some of us destined to be friends until that day we draw our last breath so its a big thumbs up to the fiat stilo and the people that drive them :)

Picked a Stilo Abarth because it looks stunning and different, the performance, build quality and reliablity ( yes you read it right ), Insurance is reasonable and fuel consumption is accecptable. I also have very good PCP finance on her as well.

Working for Fiat at the time, I knew that Abarth's were good, but i stayed away from the selespeed option, now though working for VW, i am at the mercy of the Fiat dealer network which is a downside of owning a Fiat, in south london anyway :( .

Once upon a time in a galaxy far far away...

I have worked in a FIAT dealer for three and a half years:chin: and drove a company NISSAN primera P12  (yes thats the one you only ever see old guys driving!!!) since our company is one of the largest nissan dealers and we weren't given a choice!!
we were offered a way out of the company hack, which led me to start a hunt for a new car. I originally had a bmw 328/330ci in mind... UNTIL a nice shiny yellow abarth:slayer: caught my eye in the workshop!
I decided i had to test drive the schuey:devil: in the showroom. The fact that i get cheap spares(y) , servicing and that i think its a beautiful car brought me to one end!!!!
And although my wallet is seriously dented since my mpg went from 36-38 to 21-22:bang:
I LOVE IT!!!:worship:

thats why i own a stilo!!!:D

Liked the quirky styling of the 5 door when I first saw it surprisingly, in the end I felt it just looked a bit wrong (should have lowered it). They have destroyed the 5 door completely now in the latest models IMO.

Looking back I really don't know why I bought it, was taken in by all the gadgets I think.

Sold it for a 156 and have never looked back. My mates got it now, I think he is reasonbly happy with it.

I needed a bigger car than the Punto, saw a pre-registered black Stilo 3door with 17" claw alloys in metallic black and had to have it! Especially with the hefty discount. It's a 1.4 Active - now had it for 15 months / 14000 miles, and it's been brilliant. Punchy, willing engine for its size, cruises nicely in 6th gear on the motorway, returns 37-40mpg around town and close on to 47mpg on a long run which is good enough.

Only thing that has happened, a passenger slammed the seat back pretty hard and knocked the airbag cable underneath causing the airbag light to come on.

Overall, delighted with it and it looks fantastic. As Bob said one of the nicest looking cars on the road

Kids want to learn to drive, other cars were a LR Disco auto, Alfa Spider (Ins Grp 17), 1959 S2 Land Rover oh and a Norton 750 Commando.
The Alfa has gone, sniff. Picked a 02 Stilo JTD off ebay, a bit leggy at 90k but I am very impressed. Grp 5 insurance and it goes like stink, compared to the rest of the fleet anyway !
More lights on than a christmas tree, more warning messages than a space shuttle, but I'm working my way thru them. Must be a part of modern motoring.
Wifey is impressed too. She doesn't flash when getting out the Stilo, unlike the Spider.
