Technical So.. If the gearbox is knackered...

The car in question is a T Reg Seicento Sporting SPI Engine

How much is a gearbox from a breakers set me back, and how hard are they to fit (i'm guessing its a pretty big job).

What gearboxe's can i put in it? i heard the 6 speed punto ELX boxes fit in? is thi right?

any help would be much appreciated.

Also, is the Seicento MPI Gearbox off the newer cars the same as the SPI gearbox? as i know where i can get a box off an mpi...

I've had this car 3 months and so far:

I've replaced the radiator
Head Gasket
Cam Belt
Full Service
Central locking motor
one of the alloys

the car is really begining to make me mad!

not to big a job to change a box and the 6 speed fits,good luck finding one though.i would think the mpi 'box would fit but maybe with different ratios.as for prices its all down to the scrappy,you just have to phone around
