Just been talkin to my old man (speed detection officer) about Snoopers, Road Angel etc as I was looking at buying one. Heres the thing, they say that they will detect a speed van which is true enough....however, it will only detect the signal after the button is pressed to take the picture as this is the only time it will send out a signal. So in essence this thing will tell you that you've been zapped! Have decided against buying one now

yeah, but if theres traffic in front of you that is being zapped, which there usually is, then you'll still pickup the signal.

but i still won't buy one as my licence is safe at the mo

The best thing they do is warn of fixed cameras, do they detect when a police car is tracking your speed?

Anyone got one of those radar jammers or know someone who's got one? Have you/they had any problems regarding “the law”?

I'm thinking of getting one and also get an electric garage door so I can prove that it is used for legitimate means. But I 'm also thinking I will probably spend my life in and out of court trying to prove this.

I have a snooper S3 witht he additional radar detector (basically the standard snooper doesnt detect the mobile vans - yep the same type of vans that caught me after I installed my snooper S3!)
Firstly the snooper is very good at telling you of approaching fixed units, not all of which are brightly coloured and some are deliberately obscured. It also warns you when you are over the speed limit for that camera (and is usally told to shut the duck up until I slam the brakes on with 50m to go)
The setup I have is also good now for the mobile units. You are right in saying they wont pick up a signal until a signal is sent, but unless you are the only car on the road that aint going to be the case. This was recently noted on the M6 as we cam back from Scotland, the unit all of a sudden went ballistic so we slowed and as we came over the brow there was a police van with more camera's that jordan has seen. So what did we do..... we we wound down the windows gave them the "bird" and shouted "ha! Got your ducking number!" well it made us laugh anyway.
Trouble is though, with the addition of a yakking satnav Doris and the Doris yapping about "Trevelo's" its like having the wife and the mother in law in the car!
