Hi all, I have a pinto evo 2011 with 28000 on the clock.
It runs well but I get a smell of burning rubber from time to time when it’s running.
I’ve had the hoses checked and there is nothing visible under the bonnet.
Been in the workshop a couple of times but they haven’t found the problem.
Any ideas ?
Your help would be appreciated
Dennis

has it got a clutch on the alternator? Have had that on a different car before and changing the alternator clutch cured it

A burning smell is characteristic of a clutch that is wearing out. Is the clutch slipping when you try to accelerate going uphill?

The fan belt can give off a rubber smell if its slipping. Does it ever squeal?

The garage you sent it to may not be aware of the common breather hose problem with these cars. That's more of a petrol smell though.
