General Smell of burning rubber

Hi, this is my first post and so I’m hoping someone can help.
My wife has a Fiat Punto Evo 2011.
She’s had it for 10 years but has only covered 27000 miles in short trips.
We’ve noticed in the last 12 months a smell of burning rubber coming from the engine compartment when stopping after a longer run.
Our local garage has looked at it a couple of times but haven’t smelt it but they’ve not taken for a reasonable run.
Any help would be appreciated.

When was the cambelt and water pump last replaced?

I’ve known many a car to have a seized water pump which then burnt through the cam belt the belt snaps and causes catastrophic engine damage.

Can also be caused by a slipping belt from something like the alternator seizing up

Thanks for that. Neither have been replaced.
I’ll get them checked and replaced or tightened. Hopefully that’ll do the trick.
