 I had a Sky dish and Sky+ box installed by a private aerial installer. All works OK, I can receive all the free channels. I cannot use the record facility of course as I am not a Sky subscriber. If I decide to become a Sky subscriber will the record facility then work - once I have received my card of course - or do I need any additional wiring carried out?

You will need another wire I think, do you have 2 wires or 1 running into the back of the Sky + box?

Sky + requires 2 wires, so you can watch one and record one.

Ours doesnt we have just 1 aerial wire going in to the box, it is the box that does the clever part.
Why would you have a + box without the + features.

you are wrong, sky+ needs two aerial feeds from seperate LNBs to work. It might look like one cable, but for sky+ to work then there has to be two feeds, one for each tuner.
