Hi, That's my usual repair technique !!.... but this one's special.

My local Fiat specialist says he can fit new bottoms to the doors, hidden behind the trim, at £50 each. I might go for that.

Why not do it yourself, i've just finnished painting over my 'bog job' to seal it, and then i'm going to a sheet metal place to get some stainless steel/aluminium sheet folded to the shape of the door with a lip on three sides and tuck it under the half way strip on the door so it looks good:D. and just gonna fix it on with a tonne of that liquid nails. the door will already be strong because of the bog repair.

It's up to you but i bet you could do it yourself for less than £100.

Make sure the different metals don't touch (as bare metal), or you'll get even more corrosion than we're used to.

No self tappers, or "pop" rivets either.

I put the rivets to fix the left side "mudguard",whose welding to the chassis got opened after a little choc:I...after 2 years the result is a corroded piece which I think will need to be replaced at a bodyshopB)!

Do I turn fast enough!?

John, Thanks for the advice. I have sealed the bog job with gloss paint (water proof) so hopefully the two 'bare metals should never touch.

pandafan No thanks needed as i'm sure you will have an idea i can use 1 day. Thank you in advance, lol. joking aside hope all goes well.

Cheers

Thank you,
you inadvertantly took me on a trip down 'memory lane'. I worked for Dunlops for a while and a colleague built a 'special', based around a Cooper 'S'. He hand-made the body out of aluminium sheet, which he rivited together with copper rivits.

Guess what happened..............
