Is the single wiper conversion any good. does it really work better than the rubbish that came as standard..

if so, is it easy to do... do you need to be a rocket scientist..?

any instrustions..?

cheers!

Your best bet is to ask Brickfoot as he used a Mk2 wiper motor from an Uno and a passenger side wiper arm. I am not sure if he had to mod the linkage or not, i think he did but could not tell you how he did it or if it was easy.

Back to the physics class. Either increase the length of the arm on the motor or reduce the length of the arm on the central wheelbox, whichever you find easier.

I suppose to be truly arkward you could do a bit of both.

Well worth it if your wallet is tighter than a duck's @ss since you save on wiper blades!, Plus it looks much better as a single wiper.

Mine passed it's MOT with no problems whatsoever and it's an easy enough job to do if you feel confident enough to do the job

cheers mate... is it easy to do...?

and the most important question... does it work better than the standard?

it's not as easy to get the wiper to park where you want unfortunately since the Uno wiper motor houses the linkages inside it and looks like a pain in the ass to modify it's park position.

The hardest part is getting the motor to get behind the scuttle panel as there's a bit of raised plastic on the heater fan assembly that needs removing prior to fitting, Then there's getting the wiring right for the motor otherwise it overheats and burns out the copper circuit inside it for the intermittent setting.

all this aside, easy job for an amatuer

I wouldn't know about fitting a different motor assembly, but even with one fitted, it is so easy to get the wiper parking where ever you want. Switch the motor on without the arm attached, then switch it off. It will 'park' itself, then attach the arm where you want it.

I would modify the existing linkage, loose the offside wheelbox, fit a grommet the same as the nearside hole and fit the single straight arm to the remaining centre wheel box.

hi rally

do you offer this service, if so i will be glad and lots of others! you can make some money!

what do you do with the lefthand motor, do you take it out or just take the arm off???
You need to take out the Cinq assembly alltogether i.e. Motor and linkages.

Rallycinq, the uno motor houses the linkages inside it and the wiper arm attaches directly to the spindle on the motor. The linkages inside are a bit complicated since it's all compacted into a gearbox on the wiper motor itself, I would recommend getting 2 of these uno wiper motors so you could practice on one to perfect the park position to where you want it, but to be honest it would fail an MOT if it parks anywhere else other than standard on the windscreen so it's not worth the bother

You've lost me completely on this parking thing. The park position of the wiper motor is decided by a ring on the inner gear wheel. Whether the linkage is internal or external is irelevant. When you switch the motor on, it goes. When you switch it off the motor will stop in the parked position, unless the parking wire is not wired properly.

Then its just a case of fitting the wiper arm in the position you want.

Rallycinq, the difference is that the wiper arm on the uno motor has to be set in the standard parking postion, otherwise the wiper arm may not travel where it should and risk colliding with the bodywork. i'll do a diagram of it later to show you.

If you want it to park elsewhere i.e. centrally, then you will need to move the linkages inside the motor's gearbox so that it will park centrally when switched off

I give up trying to explain it.
