A few questions that I'd like anwsers too hopefully.....

All day I hear these Nova's, Saxo's, Fiesta's and Escort's driving around sounding like boats and looking like chimney pots. Some of you may like the idea of being the noisest thing on your street, but I'd like to make mine quieter, silent if possible.

I'd like to sound deaden the interior so that music wont escape, and also stop sound coming in. But can the outside be sound deadened, such as using material in the bonnet and around the engine bay edges? The exhaust is quiet enough I guess, but if anyone knows a method of making it even quieter post here!!

I think people should be able to see my car coming not hear it 10 minutes before I pull up.

Any help would be great!

Ive read that dynamat and brown bread are good, ive looked on the internet and its quite cheap too. Theres also stuff builders use called aluminium flashing, which is very very cheap, maybe Ill get that locally......

Can anyone recommend the best way to take off the door cards? When my window motor went on the passeneger site it split and now the red pins dont hold it in properly so i dont want to do that to the drivers side!

im gonna use kingspan in my car, its builders insulation its quite thick. I havent really teseted it yet but when I tried a small piece it seemed to work

Seicento Sporting,
Modified Front Bumper,
GT Wing Roof Spoiler - NOW STOLEN,
Abarth Side Skirts,
4" Powerflow Exhaust System,
Abarth 14" Alloys.

IN THE PIPELINE:
Bad Boy Bonnet,
New Spoiler,
De-locked Boot & Doors,
Afterburner Lights
-40mm Drop

All that stuff is mighty heavy. It has to be to dampen out the vibrations, your car is going to weight a ton :(

Was the wife's but its mine now!!
Lowered 40mm: Its a go-kart!!!
Home-made induction kit.

its quite light the stuff im using, i suppose if i have loads it will weigh it down but not by much. it comes in 6x4 sheets bout inch think

The building stuff may be quite light, but the car stereo stuff (dynamat...) is pretty heavy. I seem to remember something about noise attenuation and heavy stuff is required for low frequency noise.

Well sound waves cannot transmit very far into dense rock (school does teach you somethings!!), so i guess the same applies for insulation, the denser the material the better, but obviously that will make it heavier! The extra weight I doubt is noticable, and I'm not too worried about it anyway...
