Hey Everyone

Was wondering if anyone else has tried silent coat sound deadening yet? I installed 8 2mm sheets today in my front doors (2 on outer skin and 2 to seal inner skin on each door) and can't believe the difference - I have had to move the bass boost from 60hz to 100 hz on my HU and cut the bass boost on my amp from 9db to about 5db. Volume is also alot louder, so thanks all those who advised me to deaden all that time ago!

Has anyone compared silent coat to dynamat etc yet? Just wondering how it compares performance wise as for the price this seems to be a bit of a bargain. Also, are CAD the only people retailing this?

Considering doing the back doors and boot with this stuff as well. What are peoples thoughts on the egg box foam stuff - is the much to be gained from putting this behind your speakers. If so I might buy a couple of starter kits (which has this, some insulation foam, and 4 sheets of deadening) instead of an 8 pack of deadening material.

I've used it, but not in the car, I've used it to dampen the chassis of my home audio components. I use Dynamat Xtreme in the car but that was installed a long time before CAD introduced this product.

IMO, for the price you can't go wrong. The "Egg Box" stuff is a wave diffuser for going behind the speaker and is well worth installing (I use Skinz Wave Diffuser).

Yeah i knew i was forgeting something :bang: Im off to buy some wave defuser.

I havnt personally used the Deadening you are talking about but everybody i have spoken too has said it is well worth the money.

Looks like im gonna buy 2 starter packs next time so I get the wave diffuser stuff (x2) for the front and put the 8 sheets of deadening on the rear doors and boot. Paul, do you know is it easy to get to the front wheel wells in the panda from the inside? Thinking I need to do something about the road noise coming from the wheels, as this seems to be the problem area!!

Wasn't sure whether the diffuser thing was a gimick or not but if you guys say its good stuff then I'll go for it! Dont really have much to loose as its only a few quid more.

You only need a little bit of wave diffuser directly behind the front speakers.

It's a fairly big job to cover the wheel arches. I can't remember the name of the matting stuff and you'll also need a closed cell foam. This should be done from the inside so it's a carpet up job. I found that spraying some expanding foam in the rear wheel arches reduced the road noise very well in my last car.

Pretty simple, just got to remove the side trim panels to get the carpet up IIRC. The floor is the only area on my car that I haven't applied external noise reducing materials (it's got Dynamat Xtreme on though). If I do decide to go down that route I'll more than likely use the Silent Coat closed cell stuff instead of Dynaliner purely due to cost.

Sounds like I would be crazy not to give it a go then!!! I couldn't believe the price of Dynaliner. No wonder they seem to sponsor so many things!
