hi
I have a problem with my 1996 1.2 punto ecu when engine is cold the car starts and runs ok but when up to operating temp
the ecu is really worm and engine missfires and cuts out and this happens if you stall it if i wait an hour the engine will start

Hi sam, and WELCOME TO THE FORUM!

this should really go in the punto section (mod if your reading ----> lol)

Sounds like your crank sensor to me. Quite common for it to behave this way when the crank sensor is dead.

Hope that helps,
Alan

Choke? whats that? lol
If the ecu feels overhot then that could be the culprit. The only way to be sure is by replacement. Cheapest to get one from a scrappy and have it virginised.

Hi,

When you say the ECU is really warm, how warm do you mean? As in is it too hot to touch? As ECUs do normally get warm when the engine is running. Unless its red hot, I wouldn't go replacing the ECU until you've tried some of the easier options.

Cheers,
Alan
