Technical shuddering!

my first little problem with the cinq an hopefully the last (touches wood!)

basically since i put the new wheels on i have noticed under really heavy braking i get a bit of a shudder...

doesnt happen unless i am goin over 50mph an brake quite hard.

i am thinkin maybe i need new discs but am not 100% sure.

any ideas?

Does it pull to one side or just shudder?

May be worth checking that your discs aren't warped is my first idea?

it doesnt pull either side... just kinda shakes, i was thinkin maybe my discs had a think spot so brake harder as they go round?!?

yea i need to whip them off anyway, got center caps to go on, plus need to finish drillin the spacers so i can secure them properly!

Are the wheels oem Fiat or are they aftermarket, some of the cheaper alloy wheels on the market are not quite as round as required . Could check to see if theres any crud/corrosion between the wheel and disc. Or has anyone been curb bashing with these alloys....?

They are punt Gt alloys iirc

hmmm could b....

on the passengers side i managed to use the small spacer to drill a hole in the new one so i can still use the guiding screw thing so the spacer doesnt com off!

but on the drivers side it is just secured with the wheel bolts! so i dunno really, just waiting for the drill battery to charge before i can do the others!!!

my dad had warped discs on his car, you could feel the vibration in the pedal

i suppose you would feel the vibration in the pedal if there was something up with the wheels, ah never mind lol

thanks for the info but they are punto gt alloys and have been completly refurbed an balanced so they are in perfect condition! look better than they did new!!!

as gaz said i can feel the vibe in the pedal, it is weird! i hope it is just the spacer, cant b assed to do brakes just yet!

my wheels shudder under heavy breaking. It has got worse sinse i put the bigger wheels on, but i presumed that was purely to do with the fact the wheels are bigger.

i was thinking it could be new discs time.

i neve really noticed with the old wheels so i am hoping it is just the spacers thing, maybe cause the spacer isnt 100% secure the weighting is slightly off!

i will check the spacer when i get the center caps and report back!
