My car is a 1.4 Active (first registered on 30 April 2004), but was purchased as a pre-registered car with 83 miles on the clock on 9 Sep 04. The Stilo brochure (06/2004) mentions central locking with with dead-locks (including fuel flap). My fuel flap does not lock with the central locking - is this only on models produced from 06/2004 onwards? Also, certain models have a 12 volt socket in the boot - should mine?

the central locking fual flap is fitted to all, has to by law for the UK for the flap to either lock or the filer cap to have a lock on it (and wont pass MOT without). Could well be that there is a fault on your filler cap. The 12v power slot in the boot was deleted during 03. but apparently the wiring is still there so it can be done as an after market addon

Re: And.................................

Yep as twincamms says, press the lock button twice on the fob and you'll lock and then hear the dead locks lock.

Lock your car and try to open the filler cap, it will be locked, when the car is unlocked so is the filler cap! :)

once you've locked your car, press close/lock again on your remote key and you'll hear the deadlocks deployed!

I do not have a problem with the deadlocks as they work just fine. However, the Stilo brochure states that the central locking should also lock the fuel cap flap - on my car I have to lock/unlock the actual fuel cap manually by key!

Ah.............................

the actual fuel door will lock with the remote, but it sounds as if someone has fitted a lockable fuel cap to your car as the standard Stilo one is not lockable, it just twists off!

new stilos do not have the locking fuel flap. they have a locking petrol cap instead. this went along with other things on the stilo2, rear courtesy light, one map pocket, one underseat bin etc.

Mine is a 53(03) model and...

it has the locking cap rather than flap, still has rear courtesy lights etc... How confusing can fiat make specs eh?

Re: Mine is a 53(03) model and...

mine has a key lock fuel cap also, no courtesy light in rear but does have one underseat drawer (drivers) even though it is a bit crap!

Looks like Fiat need to get their act together! The brochure I refer to was printed in 6/2004 and it quite clearly states that all models come with the central locking fuel flap. It would appear however that I am not the only one with a key locking fuel cap and therefore I am not too displeased. Having given it more thought the locking fuel cap is probably more secure than the flap that locks with the central locking - a screwdriver would force the flap in seconds (and damage the surrounding area!). I am quite pleased that I do not have the crappy underseat drawer!!!!

I'd bet it would be easier to replace the levered off flap than a levered off locking filler cap! If they lever the filler cap the lock might end up plopping down into the fuel tank, i had that happen on a car once.

It was probably changed 'cos it saved 50p in production costs. Deleting the rear air vent and the rear appartment lights was just cheap, bet it saved a whole £1 in build costs!

all these things being deleted seems to make a case to keep the 02 spec stilo and never replace it with a newer one. Would end up thinking about all the stuff missing that made the current one seem nice with the extra touches

Scorg, said the same thing many times...

I don't see me wanting to change unless I could have all the goodies (leather, sat nav etc..) Although mine isn't as well equipped as the very earliest models, it (being a 53) has some of the early niggles sorted plus has some of the 'nice touches' missing from the latest models.

Why Fiat have done this is beyond comprehension

Haven't you got a drawer under you drivers seat? You checked? I'm not taking the ****, I swear I missed mine first time!

I only payed 'pin money' too ;)
