Short Shift

Hi all, Does anybody know where I can get short shift gears from for my Bravo SX. I think they are called short shift. When there is a tiny little gear knob and it doesnt have to be moved far. Also how much is it to do?

Basically you chop your gear stick and put the knob back on. Careful with a lift up reverse though as you may have some difficulties.
Push down reverse is easy to do.

So theres nothing changed in the actual gear box its just a shorter gear stick.

How do i cut it down without damaging anything?

Gears will feel closer together thats all.

Next time your driving,hold the gear stick half way down whislt changing gears. Less hand movement and therefore a quicker change.

Driving another brabvvo for me feels like driving a minibus now!

What are the possible negative outcomes of reducing the gearstick? Worn components?

The force on the components is the same, you will just find it harder to get into gear.

Its a pretty pointless mod. If you can't change gear quickly with the stock shift you won't be any quicker with a shortened stick.

A true 'short shift' has the same length gear stick.

my friend had a short shift on his punto gt.. it was longer than standard but was a fraction of the movement... was truely amazing to drive & gear changer were slick and took a fraction of a second!!!

my brava had a short shift mod, but i agree it was a bit pointless as your still pushgin clutch etc

but it was same gearlever but they cut it off underneath and re weld it on a bit lower so you dont have to move the lever as much
