Hi all, im in work just reading through all the posts from the weekend as i do every monday and came accross the 1 where some1 asks about earthing their amp. now as alot of you know especially Tom i have had a few porbs with my amp as when its turned up it sounds great but i cant ever do so as it just cuts out if a low note hits. it will then come bak on a few mins later, Tom suggested bad wiring but it all looks fine, could this be down to earthing as its a hole i drilled and screwed it to that where as i see some of you suggest seatbelt bolts etc. cheers any help appreciated. Danny

Where did you drill and screw? I originally just screwed to the back of the boot under the plastic trim that the boot catch goes into.

Mine ran fine for a day then i left it for 2 and my batt was nearly dead. I asked a few people and they agreed on a bad earth, so i scraped the paint off around the big metal "thing" that stops the back seats from going too far down.

So far so good, still need to get my battery recharged though as a 2 hour hard drive yesterday didnt really charge it up too much:(.

Dan.

Re: Re: Shite Earth

Sorry just red what i put, im not normally up this early.

How many subs/amps and what kind of power are you running? It could be that you need a power cap if you have Big bass?

It could bve due to a bad earth, so try what i did, or IF you can get them onto the seatbelt bolts try there.

Dan.

Re: Re: Re: Shite Earth

at the mo just the 1 amp but running 2 subs but ive got another amp waiting to go in which will run my comps and some rear coaxals so i need to get a good ground sorted. ive got a cap ready and waiting to go in aswell but this is purely for show as they dont do ****. il try re-doing the earth and turn the amp up to full to see what its like then. cheers Dan.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Shite Earth

I think at the mo I have the biggest amp setup, in total 2.4kw from 2 4ch amps.

Mine are earthed to a spare threaded hole along the bit just under the front of the rear seats. (where the hinge is) Sanded the paint away, put on a little coppaslip (the one and only use for the stuff) and bolted it on with a dirty great washer.

No noise, no cutouts.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Shite Earth

So do you think the cut outs could be due to this i would love to get it sounding as good as it has done again then get the full build in. cheers mate
