Hi all
Getting a lot of vibration through from my amped sub.My 6 x 9's are not amped(at the mo) and as a result I get a lot of vibration on higher volume.
Any ideas here..apart from remove the 6x9's!

Cheers

Peter

Are they mounted to your parcel shelf?

Hi all
Cheers for that
I'm now looking at taking out the 6x9's and amping the front components as I think this be an ongoing problem cos thinking about it the 6x9's are sharing airspace with the sub.
I'll also try to turn the gain to the sub down a bit to see if that helps.

what do think of that idea?

Peter

which way is the sub facing?

up towards the 6x9's or away from 6x9's

i faced mine away and it sort of helped, but i got rid of the 6x9's soon after and let the sub do all the bass for me

Gaz
the sub is facing away.
Sounds like ditching the 6x9's might be a good idea.I prefer the bassy sound anyway.

Out of interest is it worth considering making a heavier shelf-will that have a difference?(without 6x9's)

Cheers
Peter

i would imagine a heavier shelf would seal the sound in the boot, well in theory it should work as the parcel shelf would not bounce up and down

amp up a good set of comps and set them to HP and you will notice the difference straight away

i ditched the 6x9's in my sei for 4 6.5" comps and they give me the high notes (there is a name for these ), the sub gives me the bass

6x9s in different air space ie rear qtrs or remove them.

fit more powerfull speakers upfront and it will sounds better anyway.

Cheers
So my next question will be to ask for your recommendations on fronts.
Its for a Brava so 13cm's will be needed. Not too sure about my budget though yet.It seems that JBL's go for around £40 new on Ebay.
Also I could get hold of a 200w 2ch amp to power these from a mate cheap.
Is this likely to do the jobbie..?

Thanks again for your expertise guys.

Peter

i think some kind of adaptor is needed to fit 13cm speakers to the front of a brava, im sure i read it somewhere, hopefully one of the bravo/a peeps will be able to help on that

as for 13cm speakers, i assume you want comps so will need somewhere to fit the tweeters and cross over, easily done - my personal choice for comps are either jbl or infinity, i base my choice on personal experience cause for what you pay you get lots :D

expertise - i dont have any, i have managed to blag my way through a couple of installs, you just need to get in there and have a play :D

Yes,I think you're right about the adaptors looking at previous poats.
What about thoughts on amping them.?

I'll second the infinities - and the kicker ones aint too bad either.
