Shaving

Shaving

Been shaving since about 1973 and tried both wet and electric shaves, but find the best I've used is the King of Shaves razor with their own gel. One (or possibly more) is transparent when it's on your face which means it's easier to navigate round your goatee.

I find that that combination provides the best shaves I've had in 38 years. But, not everyone finds that others' recommendations work as well for them. It might be best to take on some of the suggestions on here, then make up your own mind.

Aww, here was me hoping you didn't shave and had a monstrous ZZ Top style beard :(

I shave my fizzog every day. Face, neck & head every other day, never had any problems with the old Mach 3, blades last a week & I swear by a rubbish hand moisturiser well rubbed in before shaving. No cuts no scars I thank you! (y)

Try totalshave, it gives a really good close shave so I only shave every second day without any rash, irritation or ingrown hairs, and it's all natural! It's cheap as well and lasts for ages as you just use 3 drops per shave. I used to be able to get in Tesco but can't seem to find it there anymore but free p+p online, simples!

Bumping an old thread!

Knew I had started a thread on this before. Finally got round to buying a new razor.

Merkur 34C Heavy Duty Classic

Amazing how quickly it is to spend money on there!

Should be here Monday or Tuesday, heard good things about it, so fingers crossed!

Do you plan to use the traditional brush and shaving soap?

What make of soap have you chosen?

Have a shower and shave while your in it! All that moisture floating about in the air makes for one hell of a smooth shave.

I use a mach 3 and whatever foam I pick up at the shop :p
But I like to have a beard under my chin which gets trimmed with an electric every now and again otherwise I get mistaken a girl because of my long hair at work :(

Got it today :D.

Had my first shave and its great, little bit smaller than I would have liked, but still nice.

Nice and close shave, just need to find a way of getting rid of all the crap between the blade, made the mistake of using my finger...never again .

Tesco do a Tripple Blade Razor, I bought this when I had my daughter cos times were tight.
Its about £3.00 for the Razor handle and 3 blades, the refils, which have 6 blades are about £4.00.
I have really coarse facial hair and these blades last at least 12-15 shaves before they start to drag.
Now compare tha to your Mach 3's which are £5/7 for the razor and £14 for the refils.... errr, no ta!

I use an oil, a bar and brush (bulldog shave co if you're interested) when i'm going for the super smooth look, otherwise I use Tesco mid range sensitive shave gel. I get no nicks, burns or drags from this Tesco stuff and I do from all the MAJOR brands.

Going well, have a shower before, and its nice and smooth. Got a bit of growth now, which will be coming off tomorrow, so I'll see how that goes. With my old one its often dragging my hair out, and hurts a lot.

Using ASCO Super Stainless Blades, got them free, seem to be OK so far. But no idea what other types are like.

Any recommendations?
