Back in July 23 I purchased a Fiat Panda for my wife, I didn't trust the Garage selling it, but she fell in love with the car.....
The last service receipt was for May 23 - but not entered into the service log book, so I didn't trust it.
An oil and all filter change didn't inspire more confidence, but the car ran OK subsequently.
I purchased MultieCuScan and Cable adaptor 3 (yellow) and thought I'd done the Service Reset thing and the service warning went away.
But a few days ago it flashed up that a service was required - it's now down to 13 days left.

Now I can't remember how I reset the warning as I'm a geriatric.....
Connecting and running MCS gives me the following:

2. Service Screenshot 2024-09-05 161059_sml.jpg

3. Service Interval Reset Screenshot 2024-09-05 160641_sml.jpg

4. Parameters 1 Screenshot 2024-09-05 160823_sml.jpg

5. Parameters 2 Screenshot 2024-09-05 161459_sml.jpg

6. Adjustments Screenshot 2024-09-05 160940_sml.jpg

I was surprised to see Last Service Date is 05/05/2023 (the last garage service date) not when I did the service and reset on around 25/08/2023.
So I probably didn't do the Service Reset properly.

So can anyone tell me what to change when I service the car again?
Thanks

I have found the service indicator behaves oddly to say the least. If at any time you disconnect the battery it will send the days back to 365 for example.

You have to do 2 things

1 Service date update ( reset) and
2 Oil change procedure (reset)

1. select car i.e. Panda 2012 1.3 multi jet/Service/ service interval reset with yellow adapter/adjustments/ last service date/ execute

Fill in date

2 engine/adjustments/oil change/execute. I believe you may not require the yellow adapter for this.

I have recently had to reinstruct mine the service interval - converted from miles to km to sort it out thats back in the menu under my 1. You can look and check its not got a short interval and change this if required. I needed 3 go's before I got it right. It did not upset the car.

Good luck

Note that you actually need to reset two things since this is a diesel. The ‘service due’ to reset to a date or mileage, but also the ‘oil degradation’ reset — there’s no fixed mileage for the diesel oil change: instead the computer assesses the oil quality and says ‘change me now’ by flashing the red oil can symbol when it’s due. Resetting the ‘service due’ does not reset the oil change one - they are separate and need resetting individually .
I have MES but on my iPhone, so I won’t share the screens as they look different. I’m sure others will reply…

I have had oil resets come up early on diesels and found eventually that I had to give in and change earlier. If you forget to do the reset at the time of change you need to be more careful to change on time by miles as the degradation HH mentions is in part at least determioned by the dilution of oil by DERV that occurs as the miles build up. I never worked out exactly how the assessment is made by the computer and thus always ered on the side of caution. I did have Vauxhalls as company cars and they regularly extended my service interval to even above 30K, but that was relatively gentle motorway miles often 400 to 500 a day so by any standards odd usage. I have done resets after a few thousand miles that seemd to work smoothly on the 1.6 Fiat diesel, the change light coming on at the expected distance. These things are however a bit of a law unto themselves.

The action in all capitals is the one that resets the service.
Then, somewhere else is the oil degradation counter reset for the diesel. Not sure where that is, as I don't have a diesel, so not needed it.

EDIT: Just fired up MES. After resettign the service, disconnect from the 'Service' function and then select Engine. Once connected to that module, the Adjustments section will show 'Oil Change'.

It’s a very basic system that simply counts the number of times the DPF is regenerated (each one of which dilutes the oil slightly). Typically this leads to an oil change message between 18k and 30k miles. It also though works on time, and if it reaches two years since the last oil change will flash up that it’s due again even if the regen count is low. Lots of urban use leads to more frequent changes being needed.

Many thanks for your help guys - I'll get onto it as soon as my wife stops using the car long enough for me to do the service
Then I'll post the results

Finally got access to the car this morning, did an oil and filter change and plugged MES in.
Followed the instructions from The Panda Nut
Arrgh! - it still showed 'Service 8 dd'...
Realised what portland_bill meant by 'The action in all capitals is the one that resets the service.'
7. NEXT SERVICE KM RESET_sml.jpg

That did the trick(y)
I've made full notes (with a link to this post) as I'm sure I'll have forgotten all this by next year:unsure:
Many thanks folks.

This operation seems needlessly obtuse. Glad you got there.
