General Service Cost

Right, quick one, I've just been quoted £230 for the 12k service on my 3door JTD Dynamic (it has aircon), which seem rather a lot as the petrol version is around £100 cheaper.

Though I realise Diesels are more costly to service I think that nearly double the price is a little much, plus my car doesn't need plugs

Anyway been quoted/paid for this service?

I was quoted today just under £120 at two Fiat garages - Warrington and St Helens. This is for a 1.8 dynamic petrol though. I'd try a local garage rather than a Fiat one for more reasonable prices.

their price was £120 for petrol too, it seems the diesel service involves more filters and takes longer

I don't fancy going to just any garage, the cars only 6months old so I wouldn't like to risk my warranty. Its especially annoying as I have always done this kind of thing myself when I have had older cars and not had to worry about warranties and the like, the only other new car I've had is a 1.1 Saxo and that was dirt cheap to service.

My 12k service is due soon and the cheapest quote I have received for my diesel is just over £180. It's from a fiat dealership in Chester-Le-Street, a lot better than the £220 I was quoted from the Sunderland Fiat, so this will be handy for you James M.

Does anyone know if you can get a service from another garage and not invalidate the waranty?

Cheers mate, Chester le Street is actually nearer to me! It was Reg Vardy at Sunderland who quoted me £230. I think I might try Gainmanor and Benfield too.

as long as the garage are VAT registered (don't ask me why - it says so in the warranty documentation),it is serviced in accordance with the proper schedule and the parts used are of similar quality your warranty stays intact.

James, I have just phone GMD Fiat in Finchale Road Durham and I was quoted £150 from them for the Diesel!!!!This includes parts, labour & VAT. I snapped her hand off and booked it in for 2 week time! It's the day before I leave for France so hopefully all will be well!

Gainmanor is on at Silverlink Wallsend.
Benfield is right next to Newcastle Arena.

I reckon I'll give them a ring though.

Sorted, got it booked in for the 24th, I spoke to Sandra too.

Didn't realise where it is, my Girlfriend works two minutes from there and since she is using my car for work over the summer it couldn't be more convenient
