Hope this is the right place to post this and hopefully some may find it interesting to follow as I’ve enjoyed doing it . I’ve been working on daughters first car for a little while now . first it had a leak which was a nightmare to find but while interior was out we had a big clean up and replaced worn out bits like under carpet etc , also covered it all over floor with soundproofing And filled side walls with soundproofing too . .2nd , there was a knocking at the back end , I jacked it up and it was a bit rusty under there . Found out the shocks and trailing arm bushes were shot , also both coil springs were broken too . So I decided all out and replace what was needed and clean up the rust then undercoat and wax olyed , Once all back together Lanoguard everything. In the Meantime a few little welding bits need to be done but nothing major . i will also be replacing brake pipes from master cylinder to rear brake shoe cylinder and also the handbrake cable .i ended up rpl the whole trailing arm as it was a nightmare trying to get the old bushes out 🥴 . i hope this has been done right
this is my first time at this lol . I will update as I go along , well I hope I can ! . Not bad job for a postie 👍😂

That's really excellent work on a car that many non-Fiat people would have scrapped without a second thought. Some very familiar rot spots there. I had a Seicento the same colour and it looked fantastic on top but there was a world of rust and rot below. Hope your daughter appreciates all the effort!

Hi
Thank you very much for the lovely comment. My daughter passed first time and has been fantastic, the car now is rust free all over , I’ve just replaced water pump cam belt thermostat radiator hoses cleaned engine bay even fixed washer nozzles 😂 it has been enjoyable and stressful, it’s not great that the parts are hard to source, there is a great site but don’t want to get political but it now costs a lot more to get them here . We got the car very cheap the engine is sound it had new clutch and I’ve spent not quite a grand , but it’s worth be it at this stage I am cutting and buffing the new paint work to get the shine out . I’ve learnt so much . I will get more pictures when finished.

Brilliant, will look forward to more pictures. The ones you have posted are a very useful reference guide as all of these cars need more or less the same procedures carried out and you have done it really well. It's certainly inspired me! I reckon that's one of the best Seicento colours (I can't remember it's official name) and my Seicento in the same colour used to look stunning when the sun was on it. Keep up the good work!

Cheers again, the colour is calypso orange (571) , only problem is original paint work has faded a fair bit . I will get the other panels/ bonnet and boot done one day , for now it’s ok as my daughter has suffered enough 😂

Waiting for MOT , yep it passed with all clear 👍 . Still jobs to do but it’s now drivable so my daughter is happy , i can do the little bits as and when . Sunroof was sealed shut with mastic by previous owner, may spray the bonnet and other bits as new sprayed panels look great and can now see how much the original paint has faded . no rush but now it’s time to make a work station for the garage 😜👍👍
