Hi the rear brakes are totally seized on the car ... drove car forward and in reverse and only thing that happened was a lot of tyre smoke and skid marks up the road.

How can I free them up?

David

is this front or rear. im going to have a guess at rear. so you gonna need to remove the wheels and get the drums off which is gonna be difficult with the brakes stuck on but youll get them off. then you need to remove the handbrake actuator and free it up off the car with a ton of WD40. and then copper grease up and replace

Thanks for the reply .. yes rear ... where is the actuator situated?

its the bit that looks like this inside the drum

they are notorius for usually seizing off. has your car not moved for a while by any chance ??

this happened me a few weeks ago from leaving the car sitting up for a whil, i went to the back of the car and on the inside of the drum the bar coming out of the car with a cable attached i sprayed a load of wd40 al around it, got a block of wood and a hammer and tapped it towards the rear of the car, might be worth a try before you start taking apart the drum, it worked for me :)
