Might be possible to fool the MPI ECU into doing ignition only if you can devise some means of supplying the right signal from the other sensors.
But I doubt it would be worth the pain -- you'll likely need a different ignition map, and either Canem's ignition only system or Megajolt should do the job better.
For the MPI -- which ECU? The 2 plug micro ECU is a PITA and I'm not sure it can be reprogrammed. The late, single plug one is a very different kettle of custard, should be reprogramable if you can find someone to do it.
For both I'd be inclined to go aftermarket. But that's me, init?

oh yeh i was just exploring different methods and im saving all the money for the green one just trying to keep costs down on the blue one if posable
