Hi there,

I found a very nice second hand Sedici which I'm looking into buying. The driving is nice and you can a little offroading with it too.

Only question is, is it normal for a four year old Sedici with 50000 miles to have rusty parts under the hood of the car? It just doesn't look normal to me for such a new car. Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture, but there are clearly some oxydation spots on the engine mount and some screws are already pretty brown too. The outside doesn't seem to be affected.

Is this normal for relatively new car?

Thanks in advance for your reply.

John

Should not be a problem all car bolts are mild steel and thus subject to corrosion; clean them up, treat with "MetalReady" and use a good quality metal paint.
of course its the rust that you cannot see that you need to worry about.........
Is this a petrol or diesel? If the former note that there are 2 versions one is more powerful also see posts re 6-speed gearbox problems/DPFs etc on the diesels.....
I love my Sedici, very comfortable, quiet, good visibility, go anywhere nice sized 4x4

Metal parts will suffer from oxidation over a short time - discolourisation. Should not be specific Rust where corrosion deteriation has occurred. Probably normal I would say.......

So this shouldn't be a big problem. Good to hear.

It's a petrol from 2007 btw.
