Hi,
I have bought a seat 600 for restoration. I've got no paperwork for it so getting it registered with dvla will be challenging!

Seat 600 chassis numbers are on the right side of the engine bay.

In addition to the seat chassis number, my car has this plate fitted where Fiat stamped the chassis number on the Fiat 600.

I think this might have been sold through Fiat in Belgium, but I am not sure. Has anyone seen a similar plate before?
Thanks,
Michael

Seats were only ever built in Spain, the Fiat was either manufactured or built/knock down kits the world over, but not, as far as I’m aware, ever in Belgium…so guessing it’s a dealer plate. Waterloo, by the way, is the site of the battle

I agree it was definitely built in Spain. It has the correct Seat Chassis number in the RH of the engine bay.
I had thought about the knock down kits, but it seemed a bit close for that. I did contact Fiat Belguim, but that was as much use as a chocolate teapot.
I suspect it was imported by fiat and sold through them, and that they added that plate to aid fiat servicing. I might try a few classic fiat clubs in Belgium to see if they can shed any more light on it.

My mum then I used to own a Fiat 600D that was bought new in Belgium (Brussels) when we lived there. I remember the registration 98 UU 7 very well and imported it to the UK back in 1974. To my recollection it had the traditional Chassis Plate in the engine compartment as detailed in the official handbooks.

I may still have the original purchase, Belgian Reg, UK import etc. files some where but where is another matter as a big house move after 34+ years saw many of my Fiat related stuff being given away etc. Files for the vehicle that went to the crusher in 1978 might prove difficult to find :)
