Hi all, I'm new to all this but could really do with some help.
I've a 2001 Fiat Scudo and the clutch went, I managed to get home and the next day bought a clutch, I got my mate to fit it and he took half the car apart to fit it and had a right job getting it in however he's got it all back together but now it won't start properly, you have to turn the key and wait for the pump noise to stop and it fire's up however if you wait for the light to go out and start it like I normally would it won't start...u have to wait.
Plus when he went to try and drive off it stalled...thought it was hard to stall a diesel? but it seems like it's trying to set off in 3rd! if he goes under the bonnet and presses something it's like 1st engages and off he goes.
Could anybody tell me what's going on as it was fine before the clutch went.x

I got my mate to fit it

I'll sound mean I know, but this is probably the reason.

I know dealers cost a lot but with major items, unless a mechanic really knows what he is doing, it sometimes is best to cough up the money and have the dealer or Fiat specialist do the work. Even on an old car. This at least gives a one year guarantee.

I know money is often short so let's hope a tech here can help ;)

He his a mechanic but with little knowledge of diesel engines. However my partner who is also a trained machanic has managed to solve the starting issue so just the engaging gear problem now. Do u know where u can get a manual for it? I have downloaded one but it's many pages long.x

Glad you are getting the problems sorted.

I'm sorry, but I'm no mechanic so I wouldn't know where to begin to find a manual.

You might google up manuals for Fiat Scudos. Google has always helped me out (y)
