I think I already know the answer to this, but here goes nothing...
I work for a company that has a huge data centre with thousands of servers, most of which use SAS drives, the trouble is when these servers go "pop" we have to migrate customers/data to another server, we usually do this via USB caddy with SATA drives and just mount the old drive to the new server.
My question is - is there a way to do something similar with a SAS drive - ie. mount it via USB to another server. Been doing a bit of surfing, and looks like such a thing does not exist (I suppose there is a good reason for this, seeing as though most of our SAS drives run at 15k)
I think the only way round it is to have a dedicated server where we can mount such SAS drives and transfer the data via network.
Any other suggestions?
P.S. thanks for always having at least some response to my questions, really helps
