Hi I Got A 55s 95 Punto For My Daughter The Engine Seems To Run Very Hot All Cooling Fan Works . But Can Not See Temp Gauge Should This Have One ?? Or Is It She Is Learning To Drive Pls Help Martin And Alex

Hi

It should have a temprature guage, which should be on the first round dial out of the three on the left of the instrument panel the needle inside the dial on the right should be the temparature needle. When car is at normal running temparature this needle should be around the half way mark if it is any higher nearer to to the top red marker, then you need to get it checked out before it gets worse. If you stil can't see the guage then ring or take the car to a Fiat dealer and they will be able to tell you where to find your guage is for sure.

Hope that helps!

Your basic puntos dont have a temp gauge your gotta keep your eye on a little red circle light that will come on the dash if the car is over heating how can you tell its overheating if it dont have the temp gauge...

bet you ten imaginary bob its the headgasket.
they are SOO common to go.

if you don't let it overheat then you'll be OK< just slot a new one in there and no more problems.

ignore it (it won't have a gauge just a blinky light!) and the engine will overheat and bust the rad cap (thats what its mean't to do), or warp the head, or both

you say you cooling fan is working, is this the radiator fan you talking about? if so, is the interior heating fan working(blowing hot air)? if not then it could be air in the radiator.,

Check the radiator and see if there is any oily looking stuff in there, if there is then this would usually mean headgasket.
Also check the oil filler cap for whitish goo, this is also a sign of head gasket failure.,.,

bleed the coolant system, or just plain replace the coolant (should be done every 3years but a lot of people overlook it), its winter now anyway, so plenty of good quality anti freeze will help it out (coolant provides better cooling properties than plain water).

there is a bleed screw on top left of rad, and also on one of the heater matrix pipes behind the throttle body.

its fairly simple to do
