Technical rev limiter???

can the rev limiter on a cinq sporting be set higher or lower mine seems to hit the limiter at 6000 revs which is ****.

but how can people be hitting over 7000 revs if it cant be set. i know that pete has had his turbo at 7100. i cant even redline mine how pants is that. what figures do other guys limiters go to??

im sure i hit 6500 at the weekend, i dont normally make a habit of it though.

it is possible to adjust the rev limiter anyone see the scrapheap challenge when he tried adjusting it and he dropped the screw

Can be adjusted, I just don't like the idea of unbalanced engines going that fast on a regular basis.

just think theres more power in my lower gears to be had? especially first and second for them quick starts.

Move the little lever between the seats towards the offside of the car, more speed, less noise.-))

raising the rev limit on a standard engine is asking for trouble,if you as rallycinq mentioned get it balanced,spend a bit of cash getting it breathing better etc then maybe.have a look at the GSR uprated engine components if you want to wring the power out of your poor cinq

Maybe your revcounter is wrong. My silver one used to idle at 500 approx. when it was really doing 900 - so they ain't perfect. It isn't a good idea to go into the red - an occasional missed gear or slightly late change from 1st won't kill it, but they aren't supposed to live up there.

MOT stations usually have a fairly acurate rev counter built into their emission monitoring machines, you could always ask one to check it out for you.
