Will any 52mm ones fit in the clock area? If so, i wonder if the tachomenter casing can be removed and a custom face plate made so it fits snugly in the clock area. Could be a nice project for me!

Where does it get its signal from?

Two wires go to the coil (if u have a carb or early injection i think), then there is an earth wire that I just put on the battery earth. They will usually have wiring for illumination in which case I just put mine fan switch.

I'm sure you can take them apart. 52 mm is just about right for fitting where the clock would go. I would try and get a TIM one becuase apparently there are quite a few naff ones that break or can be interfered with.

i traded my radio space for the instruments, made an alu plate and fixed it in there
did the job....Anyhoo iprefer the scream of the 8v to any tunes

Remove the dashboard glove box thing and mount a cd-player mounting box - facing the passenger - on the shiny metalwork.
It's gonna look great!
