Technical Replacing Thermostat on a Diesel

I need to replace my thermostat on a 1.9td 75 as it got stuck open and the coolant is never warming up unless I'm stuck in traffic. I tried this morning to remove it but there is way too much stuff going on in that little thermostat housing and couldnt remove everything.

First things first, does anyone know how this type of jubilee clip works? I can't find a way to remove them...

I managed to remove this but the clip didn't move.

Just searched through all the manuals I have, I could find replacing of the thermostat on petrol engines, but none on the diesel engines

drain the system into a bucket (to go to the recycling site, coolant is toxic) from the bottom of the radiator using the small plastic plug with wings on it, then once you have the air intake pipe out (the one next to the vacuum pump) and battery (perhaps battery tray too), the coolant pipes and temperature sender are fairly easy to access. it should be a fairly straight forwards job.
as for those clips, in my experience they are one time use clips, however, in the manual, they do mention how to remove them, but i have never managed to remove one, and it still be in a re-usable condition, so personally, i just have a supply of jubilee clips for any size pipe i might come across, and i replace them as standard practice.

Cheers franglais, I had begun removing it until I bumped into those clips and got completely stuck, How do you think is the best to remove them (I'll replace them anyway) cut them with a side cutter?

I didn't manage to remove the thermostat because the air intake hose is attached with one of those to the turbo so I couldn't remove it and access was pretty difficult :/ other than that its a bunch of pipes and sensors.

personally, i have unintentionally broken so many, i just go brutish with them from the start and use adjustable pliers on the fold of metal to gently twist up and down alng the axis of the clip and introduce fatigue into the already folded metal, they break quite easily after that.

nope not those, those are quite easy to remove and reinstall, just stick a small screwdriver between the overlapping parts and twist and it pops right off.

The one in the picture is different and I can't sort out how it works...

the overlapping part is on the underside, what you have removed is just a reinforcement for the crimping.
