Can anyone provide specific instructions for how to get the chrome ring on a round 500F speedo (instrument cluster/binnacle) off?

I've found this post with a picture of what it looks like disassembled, but it doesn't help me understand what is holding the "glass" in?

Very easy to do. On the back side of the cluster, you will see 3 small tabs that are folded to keep the ring on. Use a small pair of needle nose pliers and bend the tabs up straight. With a bit of wiggling the ring will slide off.

I can snap some photos if you need clarification.

The plexiglass is sandwiched between the ring, and the cluster housing.

The numbers are silk printed on, but if you get your hands on a NOVUS plastic polish kit, you can literally bring that plastic back to near new condition. New aftermarket rings are available.
