Hey peeps,

Does anyone know what is the best way to remove the alternator pulley on the actual alternator?

Reason i ask is, the new alternator i got recently has the v-type pulley on it, so I want to put my existing pulley on it.

I notice there is a indent hex in the stud where the the pulley lots on to, but how do i get a rachet or spanner on the nut?

Thanks
Ming

From memory, put a spanner on the nut, an allen key in the hex hole, and that's it. The allen key just keeps the shaft from turning. Use an extension (bit of tube, etc) on the allen key if you've not got one of the socket type kits.

But is hard to get a spanner into it because the pulley is in the way :(

I'll give it a go when i am back in Glasgow on Saturday!

Offset ring spanner? I have the same problem to contend with at some point. Don't put it in a vice like I did without jaw protectors as it makes a mess of the pulley.
